Why I'm The DANZMAN:
A short story about the early days.

It all started back in early 1980's when The Bucks and Shadows started playing the Fest Scene. I was like everyone else, seating back by the sound tent in the shade, taking it easy and taking in the scene. After a number of shows, there where still only a few people showing up for the shows. The fear came over me, that if I didn't do something, the music I grow up with, “the sound track of my life”, may never be performed live again, especially by the original bands.

I realized that if someone didn't show the Fest planners and Promoters that there are fans out front “who Digs the bands”, that they may “pull the plug”.

I hoped that I a "Sober Nut" could draw enough attention from all sides to keep this 60's Fest thing happening. I never ever thought that the Chicago 60's Rock Fest Scene or "The DanZman" would ever be as big as it is. I have been totally blown away by all the generosity of the Chicago 60's Rock Bands and Fans. The best Scene in the nation. I never thought I could ever affect anyone around me, and many times thought the fans would never real “get it”, when the fans did start coming to the shows, in large numbers, I felt that they may hackle me, so I would not turn around while danzing so I won't see their faces. Then one day Joe Cantafio said from the stage to me “turn around and show the fans the moves you're doing to the songs”, and then I realized people where partying with me. I realized the Fans where really out there and they where “Really Digging The Scene”.

When young teens would ask, “What are you Hi on?” I would tell them “You don't need Drink or drugs to party, just a great Chicago 60's Rock Band”. Then I realized that I had a real message to share with the world. So I added “I don't do drink” and “I don't do drugs” to my Logo.
